I took the kids to the doctor yesterday for their well visits. Lily's 4 yr, and Avery's 18 month. Lily weighed 39 pounds and is 40 1/2 inches tall. That put her in the 75th percentile for her weight, and the 60th for her height. She has come down since last year. Last year she was in the 90th for weight, and 80th height. He said that she is in the perfect place. He said that he likes for kids to be on the upper end of the scale for their weight, that way you are assured they are getting enough to eat and if they get sick they have some extra they can afford to lose. He said that he wants to see their weight and height between 10 - 15 % of each other. That means that they are proportionate. If her height was in the 50th percentile, and her weight was still 75th then she wouldn't be proportionate, and we would have to watch what she was eating more closely, but since it is a difference of 15 she is proportionate and we can keep doing what we're doing. Now, for my skinny son. Avery weighs 23 pounds and is 31 inches tall. That put him in the 25th percentile for his weight and height both. The doctor said that since he is proportionate, he isn't too worried about it, but he wants to keep a close eye on him for the next few months. I knew that he was little, but I didn't know he was that little. It's a little concerning for me, cause, until now, Lily has always been in the 90th percentile on her weight. I've never had to worry that she was getting enough to eat. But, Avery just won't eat. He is so picky. I ALWAYS put food in front of him. He just won't eat it. The doctor said that I am doing the right thing. He said that persistance will pay off. I hope so. I hope that he will figure out that veggies and meat and stuff is yummy, and just start eating. That is my prayer!!!!
I just wanted to do this post real quick before I forgot the #'s. I hope you are all having a great week!!! Love you all!!!

Hopefully, Avery will do what Braedon did. He'd been hanging out in the 25th percentile for 9 or so months, and then started getting "caught up." A lot of ours was the gazillion ear infections that kept his appetite down. I felt like I was doing something wrong, when he went from the 90th percentile at birth to the 25th at his six month. I guess sometimes you just have to look at the kid and not the number.
Heather,
Lynden is the exact same way. His stats are a little bit higher but not much. I have seen him eat a whole variety of good foods, but every time he eats a meal he just picks around and seems to be done after 6 or 8 bites. I worry about him but he is growing, just slowly. Plus, it is hard to not compare with your first. You know the differences in my 2. Avery is a happy, healthy beautiful BOY!
